Dear readers,

Please guide me about the pilgrim place named PITHAPUR or PITHAPURAM near Vizag or Visakhapattam. I want to visit there with my GURUJI.
Raju Naik

Hello Mr.Mahendra, Pithapuram is very nearer to Visakhapatnam, just 2 hrs journey from Visakhapatnam. You can travel towards Rajahmundry by train or road. Pithapuram comes just before Samalkot. You can visit Kukkuteshwara Swamy temple which is quite old. You can also see Datha Peetha here. Don\'t forget to visit Samalkot which is very nearby where you can see one of the Pancharama temple (Kumara rama). This temple is also very famous.

@ Sandip
Vizag and Visakhapatnam is one and the same, the former is the short form of English version(Vizagpatam) of the later. The nearest Railway station is Visakhapatnam. There are many trains from Howrah to name these are some of the trains- Chennai Mail, Coramandal express, Falaknama express, East Coast express, Howrah-Yaswantpur and all trains going to TN, Kerala and Karnataka from Howrah.

This place has attracted my eyes enough that I am planning a vacation in Vizag and nearby area. It is unfortunate that this place doesn't appear in people's mind when they plan a holiday. Another unfortunate thing is, the amount of vandalism (see the picture gallery and see names scribbled over Budhha's statue). I always took people from AP in regards (you will so many educated people in all wake of life), but it seems some things just don't go away with degrees.

Dear All,

All the destinations would remain beautiful, provided we do not spoil the look, the Bheemli statue has "prajna kumar", "I love you", written on it, which looks pathetic, most historic monuments, tourist places are not well guarded, also some of these unwanted graffiti is posted by tourists, which should be avoided. If you are true Indian pl appreciate the serenity of the tourist spots.

Visakhapatnam (also known as Vizag) is India's fourth largest port and is the second largest city in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is a major metropolis of industries and institutions of national and international importance. It is a promising centre of trade and commerce on the one hand and banks and other varied financial institutions on the other. A port city of unique natural land locked protective harbor, shipbuilding industry, an oil plant, a steel factory and the seat of Eastern Naval Command, is emerging as a cultural and financial capital of Andhra Pradesh. The city also has a supplementary and supportive outer and fishing harbor.

You can never a such a peaceful city in andhra pradesh
