Araku Valley in Winter

Weather remains cool in winter but it not cooler than northern hill stations where snow is experienced during the same period. So don’t expect any snow or very heavy winter even during peak winter months at Araku. Temperature starts dropping after evening and remains very cold and drops to below 12 degree in early morning.

Pre - Winter is the harvesting seasons for the locals who mostly depends on agriculture and tourism for their livelihood. You can see man and woman working on the field to collect harvested rice. Usually morning time is prefered so you can have nice view of this in early morning.

Morning time you can experience dense fog and falling sun light through the fog gives a wonderful experience. Start from you hotel room by 6.30 AM and experience the forest and tall trees. The visibility remains poor so be careful while walking on main road and maintain safe distance from speedy vehicles flying in early morning.

Sunlight in evening

During winter the best time for photography at Araku is afternoon. You can experience yellow sunlight falling on green valleys. Travel upto film shooting point and view of valley below. The golden color emerging by the fading sunlight from the yellow flower plantations gives a lifetime experience.

Araku is a quiet place. After dark you will not have much to see or visit, so settle in your hotel room and watch photos you have taken during the day.

Carry woolen dresses with you. You need to cover your ear during early morning hours.

Because of holiday seasons of XMas and new year Araku became favorite destination for many so getting a room in hotels became difficult. Go for advance booking if you are planning to visit araku between 20th Dec to 5th Jan.

It is also picnic season so you will find heavy rush at Chaparai, Borra caves and other near by tourist places. Sunday you will find many tourists from near by placed visit Borra Cave and Araku valley area.

During this season AP State Road Transport Corporation arranges special bus service on Sundays for tourists on a full day package including food.
