Konaseema area & Distributaries of Godavari river
Out of the five distributaries of Godavari two main are Vasistha and Gautami. This diversification of river Godavari started after Dowleswaram Barrage near Rajahmundry. From here around 100 KM these rivers meets Bay of Bengal at different locations. This delta area of Godavari is very beautiful with fertile green land, coconut trees, mango groves and village atmosphere. With many small and big fishing villages around, this area is also famous for local seafood. The Dowleswaram barrage on river Godavari has helped in developing agriculture based economic activities in this Konaseema area.
Vasishta river meets bay of Bengal at Antarvedi. Gautami flows by the side of Yanam town and join sea.
The roads running parallel to canals at one side and green paddy fields at other side gives a spectacular view while driving in this part of Andhra Pradesh. On the way you will find mini trucks carrying dry coconut cells.
This area is not only famous for its scenic beauty but also for the rich rural culture with several old temples and Vedic culture. Several festivals are organized at different locations and these areas remains in a festive mood during Pongal ( Sankranti ) period which falls in month of January.
Famous Temples in Konaseema
Ancient temples of this area are rich in Architectural design and carvings on pillars and walls. On special occasions these temples attracts huge crowd. Usually these temples closes at 12 noon and reopens in afternoon at 4 PM. These temples are well managed by temple authority and have well managed system for darshan inside the temple.

The best place to stay is to spend some time in a village farmhouse or any resort located in a rural atmosphere.
