Bhavani island at Vijayawada

Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation ( APTDC ) has developed Bhavani island as a major tourist attraction of Vijayawada city. Bhavani island is located at upstream of Prakasam barrage on Krishna river.

APTDC operates Haritha Resort on this island and it is connected by boat from river bank at Vijayawada. Boats are available from Berm park located at the riverfront of Krishna.

Best time to Visit

Afternoon is the best time to visit this island. The main attraction is laser show conducted after sunset at 6.30 ( winter time ) . This show depict the history of Vijayawada from mythological stories when Arjune secured Pashupatastra from Lord Shiva to pre independence movements and finally about the city. Colorful laser lights are used to display images and patterns on water fountains. Duration of show is 30 minutes .

There is no extra fee for the laser show and sitting arrangement is available for the tourists to enjoy the show.
After the laser show on return you can see the colorful lighting arrangement of Prakasam barrage from the boat.
Return trip boats are available till the Laser show is over.
