KAZA
Subdivision headquarter of Spiti, Kaza is connected from two ends. One is from Shimla side via, Rampur,Reckong Peo, Nako and Tabo. The other end is from Manali side via Kunzum la Pass. Shimla side road remains open from May, Jun till October. From Manali side Kunzum la pass remains open from June till winter snow fall starts but this road is highly unpredictable and it gets blocked due to snow fall even in the months of June and July.
You can take fuel for your vehicle here.
From Manali via Kunzum-la Pass you can reach Kaza ( if road is open ) in same day.
From Shimla side you can't reach in one single day and you can stay at Peo or Kalpa or before that. However it is advisible to stay at Nako one night if you have time.
Kaza town has all the facilities and BSNL mobile tower is available in the town. Power supply is not assured here, any time it may fail for number of days. So carry sufficient extra batteries for your camera and mobile phones. Carry a battery torch with you as it will help you in your hotel. If you are traveling by vehicle then keep a mobile charger inside.
