Gulaba

On the way to Gulaba at Manali
After two days of storm it was beautiful day to start in Manali. The mountains were again glittering with fresh snow .The morning has certainly become chillier. We can see the smoke coming out from the tandoors . People also have unwrapped there winter clothing. The big fat jackets are back in fashion. I was pumped up and curious to know how low the snow had reached. So to fulfill my desire I decided to ride on the bike and check on the ground conditions. I started at 11 am to head towards Gulaba . The views were breathtaking. Photographers paradise, clear blue sky, lush green forest and sparkling snow on the mountains. On the way to Gulaba on the Rohtang road a new thing popped up, Heli-Sightseeing at Bahang (Near Sase Gate).

Air Himalayas Aircrafts and Adventures Pvt. Ltd is endeavoring in it. They wish to fly around Rohtang Top,Hanuman Tibba,Brighu Lake and Hampta Pass. They are also planning to drop visitors with their guide and pick them up. The price per fly per person is approximately 5500/- for 12-15 mins fly. Dropping and picking up package prices may wary. The Air Himalayas staff was very generous to me and gave their valuable time in explaining operation and how they wish to achieve their motive. I personally believe it will boost the high end visitors, who do not wish to spend an entire day in Snow point. Visiting Rohtang has become very typical in high season due to the NGT restriction and failure of administration in controlling traffic and loot of stakeholders.
Road On the way to Gulaba at Manali

After the Short break, I moved to my next stop at Kothi. The traffic was normal. So I reached in no time. The mountain were looking stunning and the scenery was jaw dropping. I met traffic at Gulaba . It was difficult to maneuver the bike on the congested and slippery road. So I turned back and went to Solang. Solang has been overexploited by the local as you can smell stinking horse dunk everywhere, over priced tea and magi stalls and expensive ATV rides. Tourists were going to Anjani Mahadev, which is nearly 2 Km uphill to see the fresh snow. The horses charged nearly 600 per horse and 2000 per ATV for a ride to Solang to Anjani Mahadev.
