Daspalla
Daspalla is located at a distance of 128 KM from Bhubaneswar. This place is connected by State Highway from Bhubaneswar to Bolangir, Phulabani and other towns of eastern Orissa. This old town is part of Nayagarh district and a sub divisional head quarter.
Daspalla is also connected via another road from Baghamari via Kalapathar, Kantilo, Gania and ends at Daspalla. This road passes by the side of river Mahanadi.
Lanka Podi Yatra (festival )
There is a famous Lord Mahavir temple and every year from Rama Nabami 10 to 15 days festival is organized. During these festival days daily one episode of Rama lila the great epic of Ramayana is organized. On the last day of the festival demon Ravan will be killed by Lord Rama and this vijay or wining festival is celebrated with lot of fireworks. A big status of Ravan with ten heads are kept on a moving platform and is pulled by devotees during the procession.
River Kuaria
A tributary of Mahanadi this river passes by the side of main road of Daspalla. A Dam constructed at upstream for irrigation purposes controls the flow of water in this small river.
SatPatana
This area of Daspalla is a business centre for locals of nearby areas.
HataChaka
The first bus stop while arriving from Bhubaneswar side this place is popular for weekly vegetable market on Sundays.
Ganesh Bazar ( Market)
This is a small market place with local restaurants and bus stop for direct buses going to other parts of Orissa. The right side road will take you to the old city of Daspalla
There is an old palace located at one end of the town. Daspalla is once part of the old Kingdom and the main area is known as Kunjabanagada.
ATM, PSU banks and all mobile services are available at Daspalla.
