This is the district headquarter and center of many offices of Orissa State Government. National Highway No 43 passes through this town connecting Chhattisgarh state to north Andhra Pradesh. On NH 43 Jeypore is 22 KM from Koraput. Another road from here goes towards Rayagada at distance of 101 KM.
Koraput Railway station ( Code : KRPU )
Railway station is not so busy one but there are direct trains from Bhubaneswar (HIRAKHAND EXP , Train No : 18448 ) via Vijayanagaram. It is also connected by rail through KIRANDUL ( code : KRDL ) – KOTTAVALASA ( code : KTV ) line , popularly known as KK line via Araku.

Jagannath temple
Main attraction of Koraput is the Jagannath temple. Located at top of a small hill this temple is the replica of Lord Jagannath temple of Puri.
You can visit the temple by climbing steps or you can take your vehicle upto the paraking area close to the temple. Here Prasad ( food item , rice , dal and currey ) available at a price of Rs 25/- and Sweet Kher is available for another Rs 5. All devotees seat together on the marble floor and eat the Prasad. Surrounding the main temple there are small temples displaying different style of dressing of Lord Jagannath on different occasions. The temple also gives a panoramic view of surrounding greenery.
Good restaurants and hotels are available on the main town and on the way to Jeypore. Nearest main town is Jeypore and Sunabeda.
Every Sunday there is weekly market where local tribes sell vegetables and other forest products at a reasonable rates.
