Ahmedabad tourist spots

Sabarmati river at Ahmedabad
This historical city is divided mostly in two parts, one is the old Ahmedabad and the other one is Gandhinagar the official capital of Gujarat State. You can see mixture of new and old style of city planning in these twin towns.
Ahmedabad old city have narrow lanes and there are several old fort walls and Doors. There are 12 such old doors or gates pointing in different direction. Delhi darwaza points towards Delhi direction. One more door pointing inwards known as Tin darwaz is located at center of the city.

Rail Connection to Ahmedabad.

Railway junction at Kalupur is one of the biggest railway station of the country. Several long distance trains starts or passes through this station connecting to different cities of India.

Airport ( Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel international airport)

Nearly 14 KM from the city center this is a busy airport with international flights and several domestic flights connecting to important cities in India.

Tourist Spots in Ahmedabad.

Despite being a busy town it has several tourist spots located in and around of Ahmedabad. Some are historic and some spots came up recently.

Lal Darwaja area,

This is the main area where city tour buses starts. If you want to cover Ahmedabad by bus then one full day ticket you can buy for Rs 46/- . This ticket is know as Manpasand ticket.

Sidi Saiyyed Mosque Jali Bali Masjid

Near Lal Darwaja there is a Masjid inside which you can see Jali work on the walls. This is a small Masjid with stone Jali work visible from outside. Remove your shoes if you are interested to enter into main complex.

Sidi Bashir Mosque Jhulta Minar (hanging or shaking tower)

This is another Mosque famous for its shaking Minarets. This Masjid located near Kalupur area of Ahmedabad. This Masjid is not frequently visited by tourist but if you are interested you can see the stone work on the two minars placed side by side. It is believed that if one of the Minar is shaken then other one will follow it.

Kankaria Lake ( Park )

Kankaria Lake
This is a circular Lake surrounded by beautiful parks and shops. This is a favorite park for several locals and tourists visiting Ahmedabad. At the center of the lake there is facility of Laser light show. Various water sports items and balloons available here. The most important attraction is Toy train which goes in a circular track surrounding the lake. It takes 15 Minutes to complete the round and there are two trains goes one after the other. There is a queue system to manage the crowd in holidays and weekends.

There are several food stalls available by the side of the Lake.

There is a entry fee of Rs 10 and camera is allowed free of charges.

Rotating restaurant ( Hotel Patang )

This is a new attraction of Ahmedabad. By the side of river Sabarmati this tall tower houses a restaurant which rotates 360 degree in almost two hours. You can enjoy your food while taking a breathing view of Ahmedabad city and Sabarmati river.

Law Garden

You can collect traditional chaniya choli from here. This is popular for dresses and cloth market

Manek Chowk

Popular for fast food in evening hours. Here food is available upto midnight. You can get variety of mouth freshners, pan etc in this market. Decorative items used for Puja and festivals are available here. This area is used as vegetable market in the morning hours.

Sardar Patel national Museum.

Sabarmati Ashram
By the side of river Sabarmati this place is famous for the Ashram constructed by father of our nation Mahatma Gandhi. The house where Gandhiji stayed is maintained as it is and a museum is opened in the premises with photographs and display boards.
