Water Falls of Karnataka state
Jog water falls Karnataka is rich in eye catching water falls mainly because of the many rivers flowing across the state. Though these water falls are spread across very few districts, mainly, Southern and western region, the intense beauty is sparkling.

Abbey Falls
This falls is situated at Madikeri (also called Coorg or Kodagu) district of Karnataka in India. This is just 9 Kms from the main city, Madikeri and located at the centre of coffee estates. One can visit this place during rainy season as the water falls is gorgeous. The back ground of waterfalls which later joins the river Cauvery, with surrounding coffee estate view makes this place an ideal spot for picnic.

Chunchana Katte Water falls
This water falls is in Mysore district nearer to K.R.Nagar. The height of the water falls is not that height but the surrounding is very pleasant. There is a Sri Rama temple situated at the banks of river Kaveri. Downstream an hydral power plant is also built. The place has the importance because of the Ramayana where Goddess Sita stayed in this place and performed puja in this spot of river Cauvery.

Hebbe Falls
Hebbe Falls is a trekking place situated in Chikmagalur district and just 8Kms from Kemmangundi. The trekking path is very steep and narrow. The height of the water falls is 250ft and in the event the water stream forms two distinct volumes which are locally named (Kannada language) as Dodda Hebbe (large Hebbe) and chikka Hebbe ( small Hebbe). This place is surrounded by coffee plantation and dense forest. The water is very refreshing with herb infused in it.

Iruppu Falls
This water falls is in southern part of Kodagu (also called Koorg or Madikeri) district of Karnataka. This place is very nearer to Nagarhole Rajiv Gandhi National Park which is considered as the wild life sanctuary. The distance is 260Kms from Bangalore and can be reaced travelling via Mysore. The height of the water falls is 170ft which then forms the sacred river, Lakshmana Theertha.

Jog Falls
Probably the most gorgeous water falls and heighest in Asia. Jog falls is situated in Shimoga district of Karnataka state. The water falls make four distinct cascades which are named as Raja, Rani, Rover and Rocket. The water is from Linganamakki Dam constructed at the upstream side for river Sharavathi. This area, the river Sharavati also constitutes small islands and worth visiting. Ferry (launch) facility also available to cross the river and reach the other side.

Kalhatti Falls
Like Hebbe falls, Kala Hatti falls is also in Chikmagalur district of Karnataka and 10Kms from Kemmannu gundi. This water falls start from the hill top, Chandra Drona. The height of the water falls is 45mts. There is a temple called Veerabhadreshwara which is dedicated to lord Shiva, nearer to this water falls. Kalahatti is nearly 250Kms from Bangalore.

Lalguli Falls
The height of this water falls is 250ft. Lalguli water falls is situated in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka state and 15 Kms from the place, Yellapur (towards North). The spectacular water falls with different heights is from the river Kali.

Magod Falls
Magodi falls is located in Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka and 80 Kms from its head quarters, Karwar. The water falls from a height of 650ft leaping at two distinct areas from the river Bedthi.

Sathodi Falls
Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka has several picturesque waterfalls. Sathodi falls is one of those, the other being Lalguli. Like Lalguli, Sathodi is also nearer to Yellapur and 32Kms away. Sathodi is a forest area and the place near the water falls is called Kallaramane and the water falls is famous locally by the name, Mini-Niagara. The height of the water falls is 15mts.

Shivasamudram Falls
Though tourists recognize this place as nearer to Mysore, geographically Shivana Samudra water falls belongs to Mandya district of Karnataka state. This place is approximately 60Kms from Mysore and the water falls is from river Kaveri. The river water gets splitted into two streams on the up stream and form two cascades called Gagana (means Sky in local language Kannada) Chukki and Bhara (means force in local language) Chukki. In Kannada, Chukki means spot. The height of the water falls is 75mts. There is an hydral power plant at the downstream of the water falls.

Unchalli Falls
Adding one more feather in the series of water falls located in Uttara Kannada district is the Unchalli Falls. This is a 5Km trekking place from Heggarne. This water falls was first found by a British officer and named after him as Lushington Falls. These falls are nick named as Keppa Joga becasue of the peculiar sound the water stream make.
