Shravanabelagola is famous for the statue of Bahubali which is supposed to be the tallest monolithic stone statue in the world. This place belongs to Hassan district of Karnataka in India. This place has it importance for Jain religion, art and culture and situated in between two hills. Tourists witness the artistic and architectural excellence of monuments and intense devotion to religion.

How to reach
Shravanabelagola is situated at a distance of 140Kms from Bangalore in North-West direction. People have to come to a city called Channarayapatna which is on the National Highway - 48 connecting Bangalore and Mangalore. Channarayapatna is well connected by bus from all parts of Karnataka. Take diversion towards this place from Channarayapatna. Shravanabelagola is 13 Kms from Channarayapatna. Standard trip available by Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation for Belur, Halebid and Shravanabelagola.

Places to visit in Shravanabelagola
There are old monuments in and around Sravanabelagola. Monuments at hills called Vindhyagiri and Chandragiri. Kalyani pond at the heart of the city. Vindhyagiri is about 470 feet above soil level with 500 steps. Brahmadevaru temple, Akhanda Bagilu, Gullakayajji, Thirthankara Basadi, Odegal lBasadi, Chennana Basadi, Brahmadevaru Kambha can also be seen in Vindhyagiri. The famous monument is the image of Sri Gomateswara which is simple and majestic. The Mahamastakabhisheka ceremony takes place here once in 12 years.

There are several important monuments in Chandragiri which is also called Chikkabetta. This is located just opposite to Vindhyagiri. Parswanatha Basadi, Manastambha Basadi, Shantinatha Basadi, Bharateswara, Mahanavami Mantapa, Bhadrabahu cave and Kuge Brahmadevara Kambha are the monuments which are to be seen. There are lot many other Basadis which are also of prime interest.

Wide roads are made to reach Sravanabelagola. Also, train is available from Hassan district head quarters. Two permanent helipads are also made. There are well equipped facilities available for tourists. Guest houses available for tourists. Doli facility available to reach hill top.
