Kausani is popular for its beautiful views of Himalaya. Both sunset and sunrise are excellent here. The peaks of Kumaun are visible from this town. Mahatma Gandhi who planned to stay here for two days was so much attracted by the beauty of this place that he extended his stay and stayed for 14 days. At the same place Anasakti Ashram is constructed and a photo gallery depicting the life story of Mahatma is displaced here. In front of the Ashram there is a view point where a direction map of different peaks is drawn on a dais. On a clear sky with the help of this directional map you can identify different peaks of Himalaya.

There are two ways one is via Someshwar, Gwalakot, Majkhali and other one is via Someshwar, Dwarahat. Both the roads joins at Someshwar , from Someswar Kausani is 12 KM distance.
At a distance of 6 KM from Kausani town there is a tea estate of Uttaranchal government. You can visit the tea processing factory and the tea garden. Photography inside the tea processing factory is not allowed. There are different variety of tea available here in different packets tourist can buy. There is a private guest house available opposite to the tea garden. This place is away from Kausani market area and Himalayan view is excellent from here.
