Journey to Alibag through Mandwa by Launch from Gateway of India

Gateway of IndiaAlibag is surrounded by sea from three sides is known as Goa of Maharastra. Alibag is located in an area of approximately 4 sq KM and is sourended by green belt of coconut and betelnuts trees. Alibag beach is located at a distance of 1.5 Km from the bus stand and is connected by road from Mandwa beach.

The best way to reach Alibag is to go by Launch from Gateway of India ( popularly know as Gateway ) to Mandwa and from Mandwa to Alibag by bus. Ticket rate in normal Launch is Rupees 60 and is free for kids below the age of 5 years. Above five years full ticket is charged. Ticket includes Launch journey from Gateway to Mandwa and bus journey from Mandwa to Alibag bus stop. Bandar is 22 KM from Mandwa Jetty.

Colaba Fort (Kolaba or Kulaba fort )

Alibag BeachIn the year 1660 Shivaji Maharaj constructed Colaba Fort. It is located 2 KM inside the sea and visit to this fort is possible during low tide durations.

From Janjira fort can be experience by taking a small boat from Janjira village Jetty.

Khanderi fort was constructed by Shivaji Manaraj and is located at a distance of 3 KM from Thal.

At a distance of 18 KM From Alibag is Revdanda Koat Fort.

There are many temples around Alibag.
Kankeshvar Mandir ( temple ) is located at a distance of 18 KM from Alibag and is located at 1275 feet above the sea level. There are 700 steps to climb and it will take nearly one hour to cover all steps.


Gokuleshwar Mandir : 3 Km from Alibag
Datta Mandir : 2 Km from Chaul
Shri Vikram Vinayak Mandir is 20 Km from Alibag , the temple is open for darshan during 9 AM to 12 noon and again from 4 PM to 9 PM
