Patnitop
At a height of 6640 ft this is a hill top tourist area on the way to Srinagar from Jammu. At a distance of 104 KM from Jammu this place has excellent valley view and ideal location for locals around Jammu to relax in weekends. Tall cedar/ Deodhar trees add to the beauty of the area. Most of the hotels are located on the way to Nag Mata temple. All type of hotels is available here. Tourist visiting Srinagar uses this place as one night stay before taking long journey by road. While returning from north ( Kashmir valley, Srinagar ) tourists visit Patnitop before boarding train or flight from Jammu. Patnitop is also visited by devotees travelling to Vaishno Devi.
Patnitop by road
After travelling 30 KM from Jammu on NH 1A there will be a left side road to Katra ( Katra 15 KM from here ) and straight road will travel to Udhampur, Patnitop and further to Srinagar. From Katra distance of Patnitop is 82 KM.
Nearest Airport is Jammu.
Major railway station near to Patnitop is Jammu but with opening of new rail link to Kashimir Valley , the closest railway station will be Udhampur
Usually tourist stays here for one night.
In winter snow will be available here ( but not in Jammu ) Panitop main tourist area is located in bypass route which joins the NH 1A via Nag Temple. There is an entry fee of Rs 50 for tourist vehicles entering Patnitop. There is a Nag temple at Patnitop . This area is under J&K forest department. All hotels are located near Nag Mandir area.
Weather in Patnitop.
You need heavy woollen dress in winter seasons but in summer you may require light woollen cloth in morning hours only.
Small market is there selling handicrafts item and puja materials by the side or Nag Temple ( snake god )
Walk around the road passing through Nag Mandir area during morning hours , you can see morning sun light falling on the valley.
Accommodation
All most all hotels for tourist are located near Nag temple area ( Padora enclave ). Visit the hotel section for hotels in Patnitop area.
