Booking Hotels in Himachal Tourism

Himachal Tourism has a good online booking system, all bookings are done from internet. Once I directly telephone to one hotel but they say booking can be done only by checking the availability on the internet.

If you have internet banking still then you can't transfer money to their account. They wants you to book by depositing money in their current account. Their website says about HDFC net banking can only directly deposit but it says nothing about Axis Bank internet backing.

They will keep the rooms blocked for 5 days if you are planning to send demand draft by Speed Post / Courier.

However if you are paying by Credit Card then note that direct integration with Axis bank net banking is not there. I tried to use my debit card and the process stopped in between.

Note that in case of booking by credit card the rooms are blocked for 30 minutes and again it made available for booking if your transaction failed.

We feel it is better to block rooms by email as you will get 5 days to send money. If you are depositing money directly in HPTDC account then you have to do it in 2 days of receiving your customer ID.

I was worried in booking my rooms at Kalpa so after submitting my request for email blocking I telephoned to HPTDC Shimla office and the operator quickly connected me to reservation section. The person was quite helpful and processed my on line request and generated my Customer ID. Told me that I will get the details along with customer id in 5 minutes through email.

Depositing Case in Axis Account

. After depositing I posted scanned pdf files to their email address. There is no transaction id given by the Bank after depositing the money but they told that your customer id is recorded for the transaction. But in next day on verification I found it was still showing blocked. So next I have just submitted the deposit details at HPTDC website. There is a provision to submit your money paid details at the website but it had never confirmed the submission of data by any message.

If you are booking for one day then you have to pay full tariff as advance but if you are booking for two days then first day full tariff plus half of second day tariff is to be paid as advance.

Conformation by Phone

After paying money at Axis bank I have telephoned to the reservation section of HPTDC Shimla, the person conformed that they received the money but the conformation mail has come after one day. I was advised to carry one identity proof in my journey. I was carrying the counter foil of my money deposited at Axis Bank. The counter foil was having my customer id and I was showing the same at each hotel in my trip. There was no problem in allotting the rooms but at the reception they were expecting a detail booking status which I am suppose to carry. Based on my Customer ID they were getting the details over phone.

However the online payment system of HPTDC by credit card needs improvement and they should have direct debit through net banking with major Banks like SBI, Axis, ICICI and HDFC.
