There is a double lane road connects Dwarak to Somanath. These two pilgrim places are connected by railway network and there are overnight trains available. However by traveling by road you can visit Porbandar town and some temples on the way.

Journey by Road
The duration from Somnath to Dwaraka is 4 to 5 hours but you can add another 2 hours to complete Porbandar and continue your journey.
Throughout the journey the road runs close to Sea and two or three places you can visit sea beach on the way.
Temple of Harshad mata
This temple is located at a distance of 63 KM from Dwarka. You need to take right turn and travel 1 KM inside village to reach the temple. This is a small temple inside a village and on a normal day ( without any special occasion ) it will take 15 minutes to get Darshan of the goddess inside the temple.
Mul Dwarka (Visavada)
This is a Lord Vishnu temple and as per legend Lord Krishna on his last journey from Dwaraka to Prabhas theertha ( near Somnath ) took rest here. A temple dedicated to Lord Krishan is there . As per local belief a saint called Vijant Bhagat was here.
Porbandar
This famous port city is connected by rail road and air network to major towns in Gujarat. National Highway No 8B, 8E passes through Porbandar.
Gandhiji Birth Place Kirti Mandir
This place is located at center of Porbandar town. You can reach this building by passing through a busy street. Inside the building Gandhiji birth place is marked by a Swastik symbol. The three floor building has Gandhijis reading room , kitchen and several other rooms. Adjacent to the building there is a Gandhi museum showing photographs and books. A big photo gallery is there at first floor of the building. Kasturba memorial is back side of the main building. You can visit all parts of the building.
Cameras are allowed but videography is not allowed inside the main complex.

Sudama Temple
Porbandar is also famous as birth place of Sudama the childhood friend of Lord Krishna. As per the legend Sudama travelled to Beyt Dwaraka to meet Lord Krishna. The name of the island Beyt Dwaraka is derived from this meeting of two friends.
