traveller 05:25:11 09:43 | There are information from local people of Manali that by June 1st 2011 Rohtang pass will be opened for tourists. The road is being cleared but still no access to Rohtang pass and other places towards Keylong (Leh - Ladakh)and Kaza (via Kunzum la pass). Due to heavy snow fall, this year the road is getting opened very late. During 2010, Rohtang pass was opened during 2nd week of May itself. |
subhendu 05:26:11 00:21 | Now it is open but traffic is regulated. It will take one week minimum for tourist vehicles to move. The total stretch of 475 KM Manali Leh highway is likely to open in 1st week of June |

subhendu 05:30:11 10:30 | You need minimum two days to cover Manali, if you can stay more then plan for a trip beyond Rohtang toward Keylong but that depends on opening of road.
If you are coming from Shimla side then you can follow this package.

traveller 05:31:11 03:00 | For private vehicles Rohtang is open since Friday (27.5.2011) towards Keylong. Officially the road will be opened for all vehicles from June 1st 2011. Road after Keylong towards Leh is still not open. Road towards Kaza from Gramphu after Rohtang is still closed. |
traveller 06:02:11 11:15 | Yesterday night, on 1.6.2011, there was heavy rain in Manali and there was 2ft snow fall on Rohtang pass, again the road way is cut off. Army people are working very hard to re open the road which was open just one day before by clearing the snow. It may take a couple of days again to reach Rohtang. Road upto Marhi is open before Rohtang pass. |
subhendu 06:04:11 22:30 | Some information that few vehicles were reached Leh from Manali side but it is not clear that they are tourist vehicles. However the fresh snow fall has blocked the road. In all probability the road upto Leh will not be ready by 15th of June.
From Kaza to Kunjam Laa may be accessible but total stretch from Kazi to Manali will take another 10 days to open for tourists. All depends on weather condition again |
subhendu 06:21:11 09:32 | Any news of Rohtang pass open or not ? |
traveller 06:23:11 04:04 | Hello Subhendu, Road upto Rohtang is opened now. Road towards Kaza from Manali is also o.k but don't know about the actual conditions. People are now travelling upto Chandertal in this road. Road upto Keylong is o.k in the other direction from Gramphu. Hope Baralachala will also be opened soon to reach Leh - Ladakh |
subhendu 06:25:11 19:58 | Himachal tourism is introducing two luxury buses to take tourist to Rohtang pass. Each bus can replace 20 to 30 cabs , saving fuel and controlling pollution. This will also save money.
Manali to Leh bus service by Himachal tourism is going to start from July 1st. |
subhendu 06:26:11 10:27 | Other state vehicles have to take special permit to travel toward Rohtang Pass. Only vehicles having Himachal number plat are allow without any special permit. This is mainly to control heavy traffic resulting pollution and accidents. As per the authorities Drivers of other states are not well versed with hill driving resulting frequent accidents in this narrow area.
Local cabs can be hired to visit Rohtang pass from Kothi

Though the land slides are being cleared, there is restriction in the traffic to Rohtang. Road towards Keylong is through. Road towards kaza is almost o.k but cannot see Chandertal. If one wants to visit Chandertal they can trek from nearby place with the help of local guide. |
